SITUATED

Between Liverpool and Chester, and just under 2 miles from Hooton Station.

 

DISTANCES

A mile and a half and upwards.

 

PRINCIPAL RACE

The Hooton Park Hurdle and the Great Cheshire Chase.

 

WORLD WAR I

The 1914 meetings were abandoned due to the War, and the course was closed in 1915 and used as an Army Camp.

 

WORLD WAR II

Already closed

 

FACT

One final race did take place some 15 years after the 1915 race.

 

QUESTION

What was special about the 8 riders who took part in the ‘final’ race at Hooton Park, and at what time of the day was it run?

 

CURRENT SITUATION

No evidence of the previous existence of a racecourse and the Vauxhall Motor car factory now stands on the site.
